About Me
Morgan Hill is a nonbinary Chicago based fashion designer and fine and performance artist. They attended The School of the Art Institute of Chicago where they studied fashion design and sculpture. Morgan’s relationship to their body and gender fueled their artistic practice, delving into the ways they dressed, manipulated, and exaggerated their own body. In their sculpture practice, they were interested in large scale representations of their body and the concepts of monumentalizing and the effects of manipulating their body. In their fashion practice, they explored hyperfemininity and exaggerated silhouettes through corsetry, costume design, and historical costuming, with drag and burlesque influences.
After graduating in 2019, Morgan focused on establishing themself as a gender neutral fashion designer. First working for OmniWear, a start up for gender neutral office wear, they were one of two designers focused on designing a capsule wardrobe that was gender and size inclusive. In 2021, they started working for Rebirth Garments, a custom gender affirming and accessible clothing company, where they have been a part of all stages of production of garments. Through Rebirth Garments, they have also started teaching youth how to design and make their own fashion lines.
They have also maintained a personal fashion practice, continuing to focus on costume and corsetry. As their gender expression has changed in the last few years, so has their practice, focusing on more masculine designs for themself, while continuing to design feminine pieces for the other feminine people in their life.
